Berlin, 23 November 2021 - Gorillas, one of the leading on-demand grocery delivery providers in Europe, is following up on improvements for riders and provides 1.200 e-bikes of the newest kind to riders that have been specifically designed to meet the requirements of delivery rides. Additionally, all riders will receive a new equipment-kit including winter coats, gloves, power banks, phone holders, safety glasses, or neckwarmers. With these measures, Gorillas consequently follows up on its action plan for riders.

Through GetHenry, the Berlin-based e-bike specialist, Gorillas is renewing its fleet with 1.200 high-quality, latest-generation e-bikes optimized for courier rides. These were chosen based on feedback from Gorillas riders and are specifically tailored to the needs of the delivery service's riders. The new e-bikes are more robust, more comfortable and more durable than previous models. For example, they have thicker tires to avoid getting stuck in railroad tracks. The new bikes form the basis for future developments, such as gloves directly installed on the handles. The e-bikes are professionally serviced twice a week. This way, Gorillas ensures the reliability of its fleet for its riders. The expansion of the fleet follows the introduction of electric cargo bikes in 15 German cities.

Gorillas is also creating thousands of additional jobs in Germany. Just like for all of its riders positions, these will be contractually employed with the company. In order to make the riders' daily work as easy as possible, Gorillas is renewing not only the energy-saving e-bikes but also all the riders' equipment, including safety and protective gear. This includes thick winter jackets, rain jackets and pants, gloves and waterproof shoe covers, new helmets, goggles, neck warmers and cell phone holders. With the consistent implementation of its action plan, Gorillas underpins its claim to offer the best workplace for riders in Germany.

"By introducing more robust and more comfortable bikes for our riders we are increasing their safety and convenience. We will continue to implement measures based on their feedback. We recognize the efforts of our riders and take every effort to make deliveries as comfortable and safe as possible." says Alexander Brunst, General Manager Germany.
