Financial interest in Gorillas and multiyear sponsorship with Team Jumbo-Visma

Jumbo Supermarkets and instant delivery service Gorillas today announce that they are further strengthening their partnership that was signed earlier this year. Mississippi Ventures, the investment fund of 'Jumbo family' Van Eerd, will take a financial stake in Gorillas. In addition, Gorillas will become an important co-sponsor of the cycling team Team Jumbo-Visma for several years, allowing the company to further increase its international visibility in an appropriate way.

Jumbo recently announced that, as a first concrete step in the partnership, it will supply the warehouses of Gorillas in the Netherlands and Belgium with products. Besides well-known A-brands, Jumbo supplies a selection of its own brand products, as well as the popular food items from the La Place range. Jumbo and Gorillas are also working on several initiatives to further expand the strategic partnership, such as co-location in the inner cities.

Sponsorship and investment The addition of Gorillas as a sponsor to Team Jumbo-Visma will take place this cycling season, expected at the start of the upcoming Tour de France. Besides Jumbo, Visma and HEMA, among others, Gorillas will also be present on the jerseys of the top cyclists. In the coming weeks, the financial investment of Mississippi Ventures in Gorillas will be made. The parties choose not to disclose financial details of the transactions.

Close collaboration Ton van Veen, CFO at Koninklijke Jumbo Food Groep, welcomes the intensified collaboration between Jumbo and Gorillas: "In the fast growing market for home delivery of groceries, Jumbo and Gorillas benefit greatly from each other's unique position. By taking these new steps, we further shape our partnership. At Jumbo, we see a lot of potential in instant delivery, which will allow us to tap into new customer groups in the big cities. Further expansion of our partnership, including offering the fast delivery service of Gorillas through our own online channels, is currently being worked out with Gorillas. Our independent entrepreneurs are also involved in this process. By working closely together, we will be able to respond even better to the changing needs and wishes of our customers."

Logical match Sadik Cevik, General Manager of Gorillas Netherlands: "The Netherlands is an important market for Gorillas. It is therefore of great value to work intensively with a company like Jumbo that knows the market well and always thinks ahead and looks to the future. With the capital investment of Mississippi Ventures and the sponsorship of Team Jumbo-Visma, we further expand our partnership. As an instant grocery delivery company in which our riders play an important role, it feels like a logical match to connect with this successful cycling team with global exposure. There are many great partnership initiatives ahead of us."

Richard Plugge, Director Team Jumbo-Visma: "We are very pleased with the joining of Gorillas as a co-sponsor to our cycling team. With Gorillas, the cycling team has a natural link. For us, too, it's all about saving time on the bike. And just like Gorillas, we are innovative and ambitious. Gorillas delivers groceries in cities within minutes, saving time for the consumer. In addition, cycling is green, healthy and the solution to the gridlocked inner cities, a message that cycling carries and Gorillas expresses. We will proudly ride with Gorillas' logo on our jersey from the start of the Tour de France this summer. In this way we can contribute to the global awareness for the online grocery service. It's a wonderful combination."
