Brussels - Belgium, June 24th 2022 - As we announced on May 24th, we have decided to sharpen our focus and continue to grow in the key markets of Germany, France, UK, the Netherlands and the US (New York City). The vast majority of our revenues (90%) comes from these markets.
In the case of our presence in the Belgian market, after carefully evaluating the different strategic options, we have decided to enter into an agreement with Belgian online delivery platform Efarmz. As part of this agreement Efarmz is acquiring our local business intelligence on quick commerce and will take over some of our office crew. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
Starting today, our customers, from both Gorillas and Frichti, in Brussels will be able to order organic and sustainable groceries from small local producers and artisans as well as meal kits directly from the Efarmz website. This service will also be available in September to our customers in the Flanders region. As of Saturday June 25, we will close all our existing warehouses in Belgium and we will no longer serve our customers under the Gorillas and Frichti brands.
This decision has important implications for our crew in Belgium. All of them have already been informed of our plans for this market. We have ended the consultation period and have negotiated a social plan with trade union representatives. We are extremely proud and grateful for what our people in Belgium have achieved and are already in discussions with other companies interested in hiring them.
After more than a year of operations in Belgium, this was a very difficult decision to make for our team in Belgium and for the entire Gorillas family. As we say goodbye, we are convinced that as hard as this decision was, it will help us strengthen our position in our core markets as we redouble our efforts to become a profitable and even more customer centric company.
